About this place
Oonaobi in Senju serves distinctive bowls built around its house-made noodles, known for their substantial thickness and chewy bite. The menu ranges from Attaka Shiru-men, a warm noodle soup, and tsukemen to maze-soba-style dishes such as Goma soba and Gyokai tare soba. It offers plenty of satisfying options for a midday meal focused on the noodles.
One of the menu’s distinctive choices is Attaka Shiru-men, pairing flat, wavy noodles with a broth whose depth and sweetness have been compared to vegetable potage. The broth has also been described as carrying hints of seafood and sesame. Chinese cabbage and enoki mushrooms add to the unusual combination, which reviewers found balanced rather than heavy.
The tsukemen, by contrast, comes with medium-thick noodles; dipped into the piping-hot dipping sauce, they have a particularly smooth, easy-to-slurp texture. For a more direct taste of the noodles themselves, consider a set that includes men sashi: noodles served with soy sauce for dipping. Goma soba is tossed with a refreshing cold sauce, while adding house-made chilli oil partway through brings a change in heat and aroma. The different ways of eating each dish leave room to suit your own preferences.
Open mainly around lunchtime, Oonaobi serves generous portions of noodles, making it a good fit for a solo meal when you want something substantial. Heartland beer, Kaku highballs and bottled soft drinks are also available, offering a light drink to pair with your choice of noodles.
